Jackson at Mississippi

Jackson is the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is one of two county seats of Hinds County (the town of Raymond is the other),[4][page needed] but the city also contains areas in Madison and Rankin Counties. The 2000 census recorded Jackson's population at 184,256, but according to July 1, 2008 estimates, the city's population was 173,861 and its five-county metropolitan area had a population of 537,285.[5][6] The Jackson-Yazoo City combined statistical area, consisting of the Jackson metropolitan area and Yazoo City micropolitan area, has a population of 565,749, making it the 88th-largest metropolitan area in the United States.[7]

The current slogan for the city is Jackson, Mississippi: City with Soul.[8] The city is named after President Andrew Jackson.

Founding and antebellum period (to 1860)

The area that is now Jackson was initially referred to as Parkerville[11] and was settled by Louis LeFleur, a French Canadian trader, along the historic Natchez Trace trade route. The area then became known as LeFleur's Bluff[12]. LeFleur's Bluff was founded based on the need for a centrally located capital for the state of Mississippi. In 1821, the Mississippi General Assembly, meeting in the then-capital of Natchez, had sent Thomas Hinds (for whom Hinds County is named), James Patton, and William Lattimore to look for a site. After surveying areas north and east of Jackson, they proceeded southwest along the Pearl River until they reached LeFleur's Bluff in Hinds County. Their report to the General Assembly stated that this location had beautiful and healthful surroundings, good water, abundant timber, navigable waters, and proximity to the trading route Natchez Trace. And so, a legislative Act passed by the Assembly on November 28, 1821, authorized the location to become the permanent seat of the government of the state of Mississippi.

News of Rachel Mc Adams

Mini Biography

Rachel McAdams was raised in St. Thomas, Ontario. Starting at the age of four, she competed in figure skating. By the age of 13, she was performing in Shakespearean productions in summer theater camp.

In high school, McAdams intended to apply to college to study cultural studies, because studying theater would be "a bit of a joke". At the last minute, a drama teacher encouraged her to audition to be a drama major. She eventually majored in theater at York University and graduated with honors and a B.F.A. degree.

She began her professional on-screen career with an appearance on the Disney series "The Famous Jett Jackson" (1998) followed by a pilot for MTV. After a few more films, she hit it big after her appearance in the hits Mean Girls (2004) and The Notebook (2004).

Rachel McAdams needed to do lots of yoga to fit into her 'Sherlock Holmes' outfit. The actress had to wear a lot of tight-fitting corsets for her role as Irene Adler in Guy Ritchie's new movie about the British fictional detective and admits it was a struggle to get them on. She said: "I wasn't allowed to take that corset off! I had to rely on yoga exercises! Don't get me wrong, I'm such a girly girl, I was in heaven being dressed in these incredible costumes. But it was like something out of 'Gone With The Wind'. I'm holding onto the trailer door trying to eek out just a little bit of space so that I can »

The cat is out of the bag for Rachel McAdams, who recently debunked rumors that she'd appear in "Spider-Man 4."

However, that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from speculating on other actresses who could play Black Cat, but it has seemingly dashed McAdams' comic book movie prospects.

And just because McAdams isn't suiting up as Felicia Hardy doesn't mean she wouldn't work wonderfully in certain comic book adaptations. From superheroes, newspersons and gun-toting badasses, here are five characters from the comic book world that could be perfect casting for McAdams.

Lois Lane: Would-be "Superman" director James McTeigue says that the property isn't flying anywhere anytime soon, but that doesn't mean that DC Entertainment isn't carefully considering where to take the Man of Steel.

Given that the franchise is undergoing a reboot, the lead roles are presumably wide open. If that's the case, why not cast McAdams as Lois Lane? She »

Nelly Furtado blasts Madonna

Nelly Furtado blasts Madonna over her reluctance to age naturally
Washington: Portuguese/Canadian singer Nelly Furtado has revealed that she is not afraid to grow old and would never follow Madonna's gruelling exercise regime to stay young.

Furtado, 30, also insisted that she would not make any physical changes either just to boost her career.

"I am not ready to adjust physically, just to be marketable. My sell-by date will run out eventually," Contactmusic quoted her as telling Germany's Petra magazine.

"Unlike Madonna, I wouldn't be willing to do Pilates round the clock, just to slow down the deterioration of my body. I prefer to sit in the kitchen, drink tea and eat biscuits," she added.

Jackson was awarded

Jackson was awarded the Diamond Award on November 15, 2006, for selling over 100 million albums, at the World Music Awards.[79] Following the death of James Brown, Jackson returned to the U.S. to pay tribute during Brown's public funeral on December 30, 2006.[131] In late 2006, he agreed to share joint custody of his first two children with ex-wife Debbie Rowe.[132] Jackson and Sony bought Famous Music LLC from Viacom in 2007. This deal gave him the rights to songs by Eminem, Shakira and Beck, among others.[1

In March 2009, Jackson announced at London's O2 arena that he would perform in major comeback concerts titled This Is It, at the said arena. The shows were to be Jackson's first major series of concerts since the HIStory World Tour finished in 1997, and had been cited as one of the year's most important musical events with over one million people attending in total. Jackson suggested possible retirement after the shows; in his own words it would be his "final curtain call". Although initially a 10 date concert, it was increased to 50 dates after record breaking ticket sales. Jackson rehearsed in Los Angeles in the weeks leading up to the tour under the direction of choreographer/director Kenny Ortega.[149] The concerts would have commenced on July 13, 2009 and finished on March 6, 2010. Less than three weeks before the first show was due to begin in London and with all concerts being sold out, Jackson died of a cardiac arrest.[150]

Steve Huey of Allmusic said that, throughout his solo career, Jackson's versatility allowed him to experiment with various themes and genres.[177] As a musician, he ranged from Motown's dance fare and ballads to techno and house-edged new jack swing to work that incorporates both funk rhythms and hard rock guitar.[14]
